Need To Stop Asking How Much Worse It Can Get

Well peeps, it's finally happened.

The event I have been looking forward to for 1 year and 10 months.

I got a job.

Quality Engineer for a automotive supplier.

Thought I would be more excited about it.

But when your new employer screws you even before you start there is nothing to be excited about.

18 years of experience

3 degrees, 2 in Engineering and one of those a Masters degree

All they will offer is entry level wages. That's around a 40% paycut from my previous job.

Because employers know they can screw the unemployed, the desperation factor at play.

It's contract to start and if they like me it could turn into a permanent position, I just hope the permament position pays more.

I just don't get screwing your employees like that, do they really think someone is going to stay longer then it takes to get a job that will pay what they are worth?

Start next Monday, Lance isn't going to be happy.

Congratulations... I think...? Once you have the position it might be easier to get another, better one. Hopefully.

I'll think positive thoughts and send some prayers along as well.

Well, I suppose it is a step forward?

Hugs to you and Lance.

I hear you. My employer made us eat a 7% paycut when times were really bad last year. I could buy that at the time, we barely stayed open. Now we are working 60+ hours a week and instead of giving us that money back they are buying new machinery.

I've told the GM of the company to his face that the second the job market improves, 75% of the people he depends on are out the door. I may be the first.

My company is the same way. They're doing it because they can and they flat don't care. The attitude at my company is, "If you don't like it, there's the door". They have ACTUALLY said that to our faces. Our boss came through and said that he didn't want anything in our cubes and if we had more than three pictures up, we were in violation and if we didn't like it, there's the door. *blink* Wait. We're engineers. We're busting our asses and you're going to tell us to walk because someone decided to not be treated like a kindergartner and kept FOUR pictures up instead of three?

I'm not making this up. They took this 6S crap to a whole new level.

But who I really feel sorry for is Lance. My heart is just aching for that little guy... I know he misses Maggie so much.
