Mr Weenie called to let me know he bought 2 pounds of honey from a guy at work who's dad is a beekeeper.
2 pounds is a lot of honey.
And no, it's nothing kinky you sicko's ...
We get the Whole Dog Journal (a must have subscription for dog owners) and they had an article about the benefits of honey. It's really amazing what honey can do for canines and humans. It has very good healing properties.
The article mentioned about using honey for allergies. Studies have been done and canines and humans and have shown that if you take local honey every day, it's the same as allergy pills but even better. It must be local honey because that honey has local substances in it from the local bees pollunating the local flowers, local plants and flowers that you would be allergic to because they are in your area.
Since we are pretty desperate to get Lance some relief from his allergies we decided to try the honey therapy with him. And yes, honey is a good thing to give to your dog. (you can also use it on cuts for it's healing properties and use it after seizures to bring your dogs blood sugar back up because blood sugar drops during a seizure).
Hence the call from Mr Weenie about the 2 pounds of honey from a local bee keeper.
I will have to re-read the article but I think it's 1 teaspoon of honey every day (you have to take it every day during your "allergy" season for it to be effective, just like allergy pills).
I will keep you updated as to it's effectiveness.

Hope it gives you guys and Lance some relief!

Posted by: oddybobo at November 7, 2007 03:39 PMHoney is great stuff. I'm blessed by living in an area where the really good stuff is made. I made the mistake of getting some honey in NY at a friend's house one time. First she had to scrape the granules off the neck, and then spoon some of the dark stuff out. It was awful. I sent her some of the good stuff, and now she says she hates me for spoiling what used to be a treat for her. I sent a link so she could order her own, and she says she will forgive me if its as good as what I sent. If you want to see why your honey is not good, check out where I buy mine. Of course, I just drive a few miles and pick it up.
