Vacation - The Good, The Bad & The Ugly

In all, the vacation wasn't that bad but the weather sucked and the extra's that happened will put it in the not so great vacation folder.

The Good -

We left saturday night after dropping the puppers off at the kennel. Got into the Smokey Mtns sunday afternoon. Weather - rainy and cool.

Monday and Tuesday we explored the park, beautiful scenery. Loved it and could have spent days just sitting and looking out over the mountains. We did get to see bears, yes real live bears. They were on the walking path upto a waterfall. They eventually climbed up a tree and sat there while we run underneath them hoping they wouldn't fall on us.

Wednesday we departed and headed for the National Corvette Museum, pretty cool. Corvettes of every model was present. Couldn't go on the Corvette plant tour because GM was on shut-down.

We then decided to add a stop on our whirlwind tour and drove upto Louisville, KY and went to the Louisville Slugger Museum. They have a plant tour and we got to see them making major league players bats (Alex Rodriguez). That was pretty cool and the museum had a lot of cool interactive things to do.

We then headed upto Shipshewana, Indiana for our final stop. Amish country, great furniture and a huge flea market. Oh, and I can't forget the great food!

We got home friday afternoon but couldn't pick the puppers up until saturday morning (the kennel isn't open on holidays). The kennel was ok, there was some miscommunication about feeding them. They seperated them for feeding and the dogs were clearly in distress about being seperated (for an hour) and I called them pissed off about it (they had webcam viewing, so I seen everything). But they apologized and corrected the feeding situation and the puppers seemed to have a good time there.

The Bad -

See "It's Us Not You"

The Ugly -

Thursday evening I get a call from my sister and she said that my mom called her and said something horrible happened and to call her then she hung up without giving a phone number or any other information.

To say my mom loves to be dramatic is a huge understatement.

To spare you all the details and the hour spent in frantic horror ...

I found out that my Uncle killed himself. Now I don't mean to sound so callous about this but I have seen this Uncle 3 times in the last 30 years (they live in California). I didn't really know him at all (never really talked to him the 3 times I seen him) and to get a call like that from my mother over someone I don't really know, well ...

The information we got from my mother was 3rd hand and my mother tends to not only be overly dramatic but also embellishes quite a bit. So I don't know the real details.

The Corvette museum is really cool. I took the family there a couple of years ago and they all loved it. They have some really nice cars in there. It's too bad about the factory, I hear that is a cool tour. We couldn't take it because Clone was too young.

It's too bad you couldn't have hit the Jack Daniel's Distillery and downtown Lynchburg. It's really a neat place.

Really sorry about the Bad and the Ugly....

But... Shipshewana? One of my favorite places. GREAT bread and jams. Seriously. Oh, and probably the BEST place on earth to buy mens socks in bulk.

Yes...I really DO know that!

Welcome HOME!!!
