Lee Ann mentioned that she thought her pupper Darla has OCD over squirrels.
HA, Darla's hasn't got anything on Maggies OCD or OLD as we call it.
That would be Obessive Licking Disorder
Maggie must lick, MUST lick each and every day and at bedtime for a specific (only known to her) time.
I mean there is no stopping her, and if you do she must start over. She stops licking when she says, not when you say.
Oh, it's not herself she licks, it must be humans.
For Mr Weenie and I it's very specific body parts that she will only lick.
On Mr Weenie it's either knees, arms, hands or the balding area on his head.
On me it's hands or feet with an occasional knee or face thrown in for variety.
And what is funny when she licks my feet (both tops and bottoms) she refuses to lick where my surgery scar is on my foot. She will lick all around it, but will not directly lick any part of the scar.
We have found that it is just easier to give in to her, because it's extremely hard to get her to not lick. She is obessively driven to lick, she will not be denyed.
When the mood strikes her and we are not convinent to lick she will lick Lance, usually just the head but her favorite lick spot on Lance is his ears. Lance loves it, he has this look of pure extasy on his face.
Posted by Quality Weenie at April 24, 2008 01:20 PM | TrackBackI can just imagine Lance's look now! LOL!
I'm amazed that Maggie won't lick your scar, though. Zoe was a licker, and would search my body for wounds and then try to 'heal them through spit'.
Posted by: pam at April 24, 2008 02:24 PMToo funny! Darla does that when Daddy gets home from work. Licks his arms, his neck, his ears and then his face. She will occassionally (as will Boo Hahn) like the feet, but that grosses me out more than anything.
*shudder* Ick! I hate it when the dogs lick my feet...it's just gross. ;P
Posted by: Lee Ann at April 25, 2008 09:13 AMMy great granddam used to do that. The vet said she was lickin' the salt from human skin--guess she needed more than the rest of us. So AHM added a teeny bit of salt to her food and the problem sorta' stopped. I say sorta' 'cause she still liked to lick the skin under leather watchbands. Maybe that's why some of your pals lick feet.
Posted by: Harrison at April 25, 2008 02:55 PMWhen you title a post with two female names in it and the verb Licked... you're bound to draw in a bad crowd such as the one leaving this comment. You KNEW that...
Humpin' humans = annoying. Lickin' their own specials spots... = more annoying.
Lickin' YOU after THAT... ah hell... I'm speechless on that one, and for that, I bet you're happy.
Posted by: RedNeck at April 25, 2008 09:34 PM... a buddy of mine once had this sneaky cat that absolutely loved armpits... anyone's armpits.... every time I'd crash out at his house, that cat would wake me up by licking my armpits.....
... if you've never woken up with a 10lb cat sitting right beside your head with its face buried in your armpit, consider yourself quite lucky.... it's a helluva way to wake up....
