A Philadelphia woman says her dog died after eating tainted dog food treats bought from Wal-Mart.Wal-Mart has quietly pulled the made in China dog treat from its
stores. There has been no announcement to the public as of yet. It is also
uncertain of how many tainted bags of treats there may still be out among
consumers.Kate Collins said it is hard to talk about. Bella, her two-year-old
Chihuahua, died suddenly in July after eating Bestro Chicken Jerky Strips.(emphasis mine)
HOLY F**K, JULY? QUITELY PULLED FROM SHELVES? NO PUBLIC ANNOUCEMENT YET?
How many more dogs need to die before the public is made aware of this?
Information can be found at Itchmo, a very good dog website.
How much longer is this going to go on before the media will finally start making a fuss about it? That's the only way the government will listen, IMO.
Yesterday I went into Petsmart and EVERY treat and chewy I picked up was made in China. I left them there.
Right now I'm using Innova's EVO for training; no grain and they're small. ;)
For 17 years my dog was healthy and happy. She was never sick outside of the final few months of her life when she just was winding down. *sigh*
But - I never bought her anything to eat or chew that was not made in the USA. Yes, I read my labels! Unlike other countries we have higher standards for food and all the other things dogs might chew.
Rawhide made outside the US has a good possibility of being cured in an arsenic substance. Many dogs tolerate it well, others get very sick... that sort of thing happens with all dog chewies.
And yes, I paid more - I believe I saved hundreds - if not thousands in vet bills! I never bought anything for them from Walmart - but if Walmart had carried made in the USA chewies - I would have been okay with it. Just nothing from other countries.
