1994 : Chrysler's Neon hits the road
The Plymouth 2000 NeonThe Chrysler Corporation introduced the Neon compact car on this day. The Neon, a sporty plastic-bodied economy car, quickly became a popular car, particularly among young drivers.
I don't know whether to admit to this or not, but I was there. I was in charge of the "high strength" steel.
I've never seen a car go from concept to road as quickly as that one did.....

Until they raised the price to the point you could get a car that was way the hell better for the same money. It doomed the Neon. The market for used neons is still pretty brisk though, people pick them up for their high school kids....
