Speaking in terms as if you were interviewing for a job and you were asking questions of the perspective company.

Will the job require me to remove all my clothes?

Not that kind of job? Sorry. How about these:

Do you allow llamas in this workplace?
Do the vending machines have llama feed in them?
Will I have to clean up after my own llama?

Not that kind of job, either? Geez. Ok, try these:

What are the current challenges that your company faces?
Why did the last person leave the position?
How long has the position been vacant?
What would be my primary challenges if I were selected for this position?
What is your management style?
How often are performance reviews conducted and what is your process?
How does this organization feel about continuing education?
Can you give me an example of something you like, and dislike about working for this company?
What unique challenges has this unit faced over the last year? (i.e. successes, failures, etc.)
What sets this organization apart from it's competitors?

Drat I've already talked to my husband tonight... (he's in Boston - I'm not - which is why I say it that way *grin*)

When do you need to know? I can try and run it past him tomorrow if it's not too late.

Okay here we go... first up very very generalized questions that THEY might ask you...

1) How do you handle quality issues
2) How do you handle people issues
3) How do you handle technical issues

Those would extrapolate into more detailed questions about the specific job.

Questions YOU should be asking them...

1) How are the goals and directives of the organization communicated to everyone in the organization?

2) Can you show me an Org Chart that details the positions in the company with their roles and responsibilities? Where does this position fit in the Org Chart? (you refers to the person interviewing)

3) What measurements will be used to evaluate you? What critical things will you be graded on each year? (you refers to the person being interviewed)

4) Is the organization a matrix? Who has the authority in the organization?

5) Why is this position being filled? Is someone leaving or is the organization growing? What happened to free up this postion?

6) Movement within the company... What is the career path of people in this position?

That's what my husband had off the top of his head. If you want more info let me know - you can email me if you want - but I won't be online much next week Monday to Friday so hit me with it over the weekend. Good Luck!
